RE•LIFT™ began as a vision in the late 1990s when Dr. Adam Summers identified a critical gap in the aesthetic surgery market: patients wanted rejuvenating results without the scarring, downtime, or artificial look often associated with traditional facelifts.

In 1996, Dr. Summers developed the first multimedia training program for knot tying and suturing. By 1998, he had pioneered the first minimally invasive facelift using permanent sutures, laying the foundation for what would later become RE•LIFT™.

In 2002, he performed and validated the first one-hour facelift. Over the next decade, refinements in technique, patient outcomes, and biomaterial science led to the development of permanent one-hour brow lifts and midface procedures. By 2012, the durability of these techniques was proven with 10-year patient follow-ups.

The turning point came in 2021 with the establishment of The Aesthetic Institute as a dedicated training hub. In 2023, after more than 2,000 successful RE•LIFT™ procedures, Dr. Summers launched ReLiftMD Ventures to expand the technique nationally. The model included provider certification, surgical toolkits, marketing support, and a growing patient demand pipeline.

By 2024, research partnerships with NC State University and Emory University led to the development of proprietary polymorphic scaffolding sutures. These advanced materials further improved tissue integration, strength, and patient outcomes.
